Why Pakistani cricketers will not be able to play in foreign leagues

Desk Report:

The country’s Cricket Board (PCB) has stopped Pakistani cricketers from playing in foreign leagues. The organization took this decision after losing to India in the Asia Cup final, cricket-based media ESPNCricinfo reported.

The report said that PCB Chief Operating Officer Sumair Ahmed Syed has already informed the players and agents of this decision through a notice. Along with this, the top body of Pakistan Cricket has suspended all NOCs (No Objection Certificates) given to cricketers in the recent past.

The notice from the PCB has been obtained by Cricinfo. It says, ‘With the approval of the PCB Chairman, all No Objection Certificates (NOCs) of players to participate in leagues and other tournaments outside the country have been suspended until further orders.’

Cricinfo did not give any information about why the PCB suddenly stopped cricketers from playing in foreign leagues. Pakistan’s dreams were shattered after losing to India by 5 wickets in the Asia Cup final. Earlier, Salman Ali Agar’s team lost to the neighboring country in the group stage and Super Four.

Cricinfo claimed in the report that the PCB has taken this decision to fully focus on the players’ national team and domestic performance. However, it is not known how long the PCB’s decision will remain in effect.

Seven Pakistani cricketers, including Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan and Shaheen Shah Afridi, will play in this season of the Big Bash League (BBL) starting in December. There are 16 cricketers from the country on the shortlist for the IL-T20 auction. All of them have fallen into fear due to the new decision of the PCB.
